About

The Victorian Maritime Centre is run by a group of volunteers who are members of the Western Port Oberon Association (WPOA.)

The WPOA was formed during 1998 to acquire the ex-HMAS Otama, a decommissioned Oberon-class submarine. The Otama arrived into Western Port Bay on 30 April 2002.

What we do

Our volunteers give their time freely to the administration of the museum and the organisation. We maintain the musuem, curate the collection, are in the process of cataloguing hundreds of items, provide guided tours, and sell memberships and VMC merchandise.

How we do it

Being a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on donations, memberships, and sponorship from local businesses and supporters to allow us to continue our work at the museum.
