Walks and waterfront
Quiet beaches, a boardwalk through the mangroves and a historic jetty.
There are several easy waterfront walks near the museum. Check conditions and tides before you set out, and take water, a hat and sunscreen.
Jacks Beach, Crib Point
Jacks Beach has a picnic area and a heritage-listed tan pit, where the Jack brothers once tanned their fishing nets. A short walk from the picnic area leads to it.
Warringine boardwalk
A boardwalk through Warringine Park links Jacks Beach with Hastings, passing through the mangroves and offering good birdwatching.
Woolley's Beach
This is a quiet mangrove shoreline with views across the water to French Island. It is a place for a relaxing walk, not for swimming.
Hastings foreshore and jetty
The Hastings foreshore has picnic spots, barbecues, a playground and walking and cycling tracks. The historic Hastings Jetty is popular for fishing, and pelicans are often seen there. Hastings also has a local history museum on Marine Parade.
